Did you know the type II gold dollar was only made for three years?  These were produced in 1854-1856. The last year for the type was produced in Philadelphia was 1855. This is one of those final coin produced of the type. 
Because of the short run of production these are quite scarce when compared to the type I and type III gold dollars.
